ASME B31.1 Piping

Rite Boiler with ASME B31.1 Pressure PipingASME B31.1 Pressure Piping is required on hot water boilers that are built to Section I of the ASME Code for service over 250º F or 160 PSI. For Rite, this would be our "PW" series (9.5 to 250 BHP). The requirement is that only an ASME "S" or "PP" stamp holder is allowed to pipe up to the first valve on any Section I boiler. This can be done in the field by a stamp holder where it must be hydrotested, witnessed and documented per the ASME Code. For this reason most installing contractors prefer the boiler manufacturer to do this, so we offer the option. The photograph shows a PW 100 (100 BHP ) atmospheric natural gas fired boiler with double block and bleed supply and return valves. The double block and bleed valves were required on this job because the boiler is supplying a common header. Otherwise, there would only be one stop valve per inlet and outlet for single boiler installations. The valves and spool pieces were supplied, hydrotested and documented by Rite for a manufacturer of jet engines...
